DIAGRAMS FOR THE MODEL 14 TYPING AND NON-TYPING
REPERFORATORS. THERE WERE NUMEROUS WIRING
CONFIGURATIONS IN BOTH THE MILITARY AND BELL SYSTEM.

WE PRESENT WERE SCANNED FROM WAR DEPARTMENT
TECHNICAL MANUAL TM-11-2223 ISSUE DATED SEPTEMBER 1947.
ALL DIAGRAMS
IN THE MANUAL WERE INCLUDED, AND WE LEAVE IT UP TO THE
INDIVIDUAL TO ASCERTAIN EXACTLY WHICH DIAGRAM SUITS YOUR MACHINE.
PERHAPS THE
BIGGEST DIFFERENCES WILL BE IN THE MOTOR TYPES, AND THE
TYPE OF SELECTOR FOUND ON YOUR MACHINE.
PULLING
MAGNET SELECTORS HAVE ROUND COILS, GENERALLY COVERED
WITH A BLACK INSULATION RESEMBLING FRICTION TAPE, OR ELSE A
GREENISH-GREY
INSULATING MATERIAL. THESE SELECTOR MAGNETS WERE DESIGNED TO BE
WIRED ONLY
IN SERIES, AND OPERATED ONLY ON 60 MILLIAMPERES LOOP CURRENT.
HOLDING
MAGNET SELECTORS ARE CHARACTERIZED BY A RECTANGULAR SHAPED
COILS, AND THE LETTERS "HM" WERE STAMPED ON THE RANGE
FINDER. THERE WAS AN OPTION WHEREBY SERIES OR PARALLEL
OPERATING CONFIGURATION WAS SELECTABLE BY A TOGGLE SWITCH MOUNTED
ON THE MACHINE, OR BY A SMALL TERMINAL STRIP ARRANGEMENT MOUNTED
SOMEWHERE NEAR THE SELECTOR BASEPLATE. OPERATION COULD BE EITHER
20 OR 60 MILLIAMPERES.
SYNCHRONOUS MOTORS ARE CHARACTERIZED BY A FAN MOUNTED ON THE REAR
OF THE MOTOR. GOVERNED MOTORS FEATURED A BLACK AND WHITE
TARGET ASSEMBLY.
SPEED OF THE MOTOR WAS ADJUSTABLE, AND SET BY VIEWING THE
TARGET THROUGH A SPECIALLY SHUTTERED 87.6 VPS TUNING FORK.
RUNNING SPEED WAS USUALLY 2100 RPM.
THE SCHEMATICS ARE PRESENTED IN ADOBE .PDF FORMAT. THERE ARE THIRTEEN PAGES. THE SCANNING WAS DONE SUCH THAT YOU CAN TAKE THE MULTIPLE PAGES, TRIM THEM AT A GOOD REFERENCE POINT, AND PASTE OR TAPE THEM TOGETHER SO THAT YOU HAVE A FULL SIZED COPY OF THE ORIGINAL. VERTICAL REGISTRATION IS QUITE GOOD, SO IF THEY NEED TO BE TRIMMED YOU SHOULD LOSE LITTLE FROM THE TOP AND BOTTOM.
